For the Target Route of Turkey in Leather and Leather Products Export
Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association (IDMIB) gathers the quality product and modern production understanding of the Turkish leather sector with new markets. The leading sector fairs of the world are attended to reach China and Southeast Asian countries as well as Japan, which are among the new route targets of the Turkish leather sector in exports.
Turkish leather sector makes ‘national participation’ to CHIC 2015 Fair (China International Clothing and Accessories Fair), one of the most important sector fairs of the world. Turkish leather sector specifies its target to reach the Southeastern Asian countries and Japan in its second participation to the Turkish leather sector fair via the organization arranged by IDMIB. Closer contacts are ensured to turn, in China and Japan, the high quality perception regarding Turkish leather into sales.
China is now becoming a market rather than a competitor for Turkish leather sector. Turkish leather sector makes serious increases in its trade with China and Southeast Asian countries with that understanding of export.
Purchasers in the European countries and Russia are closely acquainted with the quality and modern production understanding of Turkish leather. In comparison with the last year, 22%, 18%, 33% and 42% increases have been noted in Turkey’s export figures regarding leather and leather products respectively in the UK, Italy, Spain and Greece.
FOR THE SHEEP/GOAT LEATHER PRODUCTION, TURKEY IS THE SECOND BIGGEST PRODUCER IN EUROPE AFTER ITALY AND 7TH BIGGEST PRODUCER IN THE WORLD.
TURKEY HAS THE BIGGEST PRODUCTION CAPACITY OF DOUBLE FACE SHEEPSKIN LEATHER IN THE WORLD WITH 80 MILLION PCS./YEAR.
Some major increases were seen in the export figures of Turkish leather sector on its new route. For example, the increase, compared with the last year, for the figures of export to Vietnam has been 214 percent. Within the last six years an average of 31,3% annual increase occurred in Turkey’s leather and leather products export to China. Rising to 63,5 million dollars in 2014, leather and leather products export from Turkey to China showed an approximately fourfold increase from its former value of 16,1 million dollars in 2009. With an 11,2% increase, China realized an import of 74,4 million dollars leather, leather products and shoes in 2013.
‘Nationwide participation’ is made by Turkish manufacturers since CHIC 2015 Fair is highly heeded for a bigger share and reaching aimed export figures in the Chinese market.
10 Turkish firms will be in Hall 6.1 with their quality products and modern designs in the fair to be arranged between March 18th and 20th, 2015. The 10 Turkish firms participating in CHIC 2015, the biggest and most prestigious fair on ready wear and fashion in Asia, are as follows: PERRE, MODESSAN GLR, VISETTE, SHAKY, PANTERREZ, VDV VIVA DOLCE VITA, CEM KEREM, EKOTEKS, FERUDUN/FERTINI and the designer GUZIN BULDUK with SET TEXTILE.
Discontent with the quality of their domestic leather and footwear products, the rising middle-high and rich class of China prefers international luxury leather brands, particularly luxury brands of Europe. In this context, the new rising rich class in China shows a growing choice of high quality Turkish leather and leather products.
For Turkey, China is a significant country for not only general trade, but likewise the trade of leather and leather products. Corresponding to 3,2%, a portion of 891,8 million dollars of the total trade volume (import + export) between China and Turkey totaling to 27,8 billion dollars consists of leather and leather products.
In 2014, China ranked 7th among countries which Turkey exported leather and leather products.
Concrete steps are taken to get a bigger share from the total leather confection market in china reaching about RMB 35 billion (approximately USD 5,4 billion). Turkish products are available for sale in Haining China Leather City Mall, one of the biggest centers in the world for leather sales visited, since 2013 in Haining city of China, by 5 million people every year.
Via the agreement signed by Turkish Leather Confection Association (TDKD) in October 2012, Turkish leather sector is now able to sell, in Haining China Leather City Mall, products 100% of Turkish origin to the luxury retail market of China. An area of 8.500 square meters hosts a total of 25 stores. At the offices/stores opened in Peking, Shanghai and other cities, Turkish leather confection sector also makes a direct entry to China’s luxury wear market selling luxury products of the highest segment from a closer position of contact with the consumers.
In CHIC 2015 Fair, the quality of Turkish leather and products are presented to participants in a modern design. Turkish leather sector takes bigger steps towards China, Southeastern Asian countries and China with its annually growing trade relations.
